The team of the Agency for Sustainable Development and Eurointegration - Ecoregion (ASDE) and the remote Sensing Application Center - RESAC jointly created a database of the standing water bodies on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. The database has been completed and upgraded during the last years. All standing water bodies in Bulgaria are georeferenced. Mapping is based on satellite or aeroorthophoto images, in scale between 1:10 000 and 1:25 000. For major waterbodies, mapping is on a scale of 1:10 000.
For all complex (multipurpose) dams, passports have been created, including more important geographic, morphometric, hydro-technical, physico-chemical and biological parameters, using available data, collected from different free available sources.
